For 20 years Technovative Applications has focused on developing and adapting radar interferometry for
defense applications. The attributes of interferometry in accuracy, flexibility and antenna diversity are
particularly suited for conforming the size, layout and power constraints to demanding platform applications.
Our innovation in both hardware and software has enabled us to become a leader in precision tracking small
RCS targets. Our background includes the development and delivery of solutions for:
- Hypervelocity Weapon Terminal Defense Fire Control System: The HFCS was developed
as a test bed to validate the feasibility of a fire control sensor with sufficient accuracy to command guide
an interceptor to hit-to-kill an incoming ballistic missile warhead out to a range of 25 km. Demonstrations
included cross range precision CEP of 18 cm at a 24.8 km range, and tracking hypervelocity projectiles fired
at up to 2 km per second. Technovative Applications developed the tracking system and the in-projectile
binary phase coded waveform communications module that was hardened to 100k G’s.

- Short Range Missile Defense With Optimized Radar Distribution: SWORD adopted a Technovative
Applications designed and developed, very low-cost active array module technology into a electronic
scan antenna for missile defense applications. Projectile command guidance was fully integrated
with the tracking antennas and demonstrated in field applications.

- Low Sidelobe Pulse Compression Data Signal Processor: Technovative Applications successfully
generated and processed a 511 chip periodic binary phased coded waveform with a 1.5 Ghz A/D
converter based signal processor and demonstrated range sidelobe suppression in excess of 50
dB below the primary signal return.

- Projectile Tracking System (Proof Of Concept): The phase 1 PTS radar was a technology demonstrator
to validate the ability of interferometry based projectile tracking systems to predict impact accuracy
of less than 5 m CEP at a range in excess of 16 km. The system became the foundation technology for the
Crusader gun system PTS and the Future Combat System Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon.

- Mortar Tracking System: MTS was developed and delivered to the US Army’s Yuma Proving Ground for providing
range instrumentation truth data. Today the systems provide a wide range of test support for on-going
fire missions at the range. MTS includes the ability for simultaneous transmit and receive for tracking
mortar and artillery projectiles as they leave the launch tube. Technovative Applications included digital
signal processing modes that achieve over 50 dB of coherent processing gain. The system tracks very low
Doppler velocity targets (0.4 m/s) and high angle trajectories. The system has demonstrated its ability
to track manned aircraft, missiles, hovering helicopters, mortar illumination round separation events
and air burst events.
