Mortar Tracking System

MTS was developed and delivered to the US Army's Yuma Proving Ground for providing range instrumentation truth data. Today the systems provide a wide range of test support for on-going fire missions at the range. MTS includes the ability for simultaneous transmit and receive for tracking mortar and artillery projectiles as they leave the launch tube. Technovative Applications included digital signal processing modes that achieve over 50 dB of coherent processing gain. The system tracks very low Doppler velocity targets (0.4 m/s) and high angle trajectories. The system has demonstrated its ability to track manned aircraft, missiles, hovering helicopters, mortar illumination round separation events and air burst events.
