Hypervelocity Weapon Terminal Defense Fire Control System: The HFCS was developed as a test bed to validate the feasibility of a fire control sensor with sufficient accuracy to command guide an interceptor to hit-to-kill an incoming ballistic missile warhead out to a range of 25 km. Demonstrations included cross range precision CEP of 18 cm at a 24.8 km range, and tracking hypervelocity projectiles fired at up to 2 km per second. Technovative Applications developed the tracking system and the in-projectile binary phase coded waveform communications module that was hardened to 100k G's.
